Wow, these past few days have been brutal in meat-space (real life). I finally got some time to sit down and work on the site. I'm going to upload more of the old content under "Uncategorized" with a few notable hurdles.
First, the particular theme I'm using was allowing a maximum of 6 menu items in the navigation bar up top before it either tried to lump everything together or start a new line of menu items, neither of which I liked because there is still plenty of space at the top of the page for more than 6 menu items. From poking around in the CSS editor, I managed to fix this and I'm writing this down for future reference: Open the CSS editor and click on _nav.less on the left. The code will open and then scroll down until you see .nav { display: table-cell; vertical-align: middle; ul { float: right; max-width: calc(~’100vw – 480px’); The last line about maximum width is set to 100% of the view field (that's what 100vw means) minus 480 pixels. To allow the code to take advantage of the entire view field, simply delete the 480px so you have the last line up there reading max-width: calc(~’100vw’);. And that fixed it. This is why there are more than 6 menu items in my navigation bar. Second, my Portal and Portal 2 shrine includes a table and equations, so I'm going to try to learn LaTeX and MathJax to be able to import that into Weebly. It'll be awhile, most likely. Finally, out of all my shrines I think the Fire Emblem shrine has the least quality, so I'm trying to think of ways to rewrite it. It may also become part of a new category on SRPGs, similar to how I have a cRPG category. We'll see. For now I still have plenty to do in terms of updates. Happy Lunar New Year! After spending way more time than I thought it'd take, I've uploaded my Blizzard shrines - probably my largest set of shrines considering text and images. Weebly imports formatting really well with the exception of color, so for my Diablo shrines where the characters were color-coded, I had to set the colors manually. Weebly also doesn't have a strikethrough font that I know of, so there might be some text that is supposed to be struck-through but isn't. I think I caught them all, but I can't quite be sure.
The Blizzard shrines are supposed to end with Diablo III. I don't know whether Diablo III is getting a second expansion that will wrap up the canon lore, though, so I'm currently toying with the idea of just making up an ending myself. We'll see. I finally decided to update my site and after some searching, I've decided to give Weebly a shot. Google Sites is great, but I felt the old site was clunky and felt outdated. The new Google Sites rolled out last month but has like 10% of the features of the classic Sites, which is somewhat baffling.
Anyway, I'll be uploading stuff over the next few days until I get everything up and running. The first thing I did was set up this page (so now I can actually have a log of updates) and upload my Final Fantasy shrines. The formatting isn't ideal since Weebly's engine seems to insist on leaving a gap between objects, so my text headers are spaced away from the content they're heading. It's annoying, but I guess I can live with it. Also, it might just be my imagination but the images I upload seem to lose resolution. I'll look into this as time goes on. |
