I was browsing through some old texts/messages/mail the other day, just reminiscing, when I came across these sonnets I wrote. They're roughly 1 year apart. I write poetry very rarely, so I thought I'd post it here in case anyone actually reads my site and wants to see something not nerd-related. Sonnet 1: written spring 2017
The rabbit sits up on the soft, lined ground To look across the restless churning sea. Settled clouds watched, with their ominous sound But, as past decreed, rain was not to be. Jagged light cleaves through the sleep-deprived sky. The flow marches forth, by Maxwell's command, Through thund'ring gates with an ancient sigh. The rabbit sleeps in this desolate land. Before his eyes did rain at last descend. The land fell tranquil; the sea surged anew, The red glow herald to the dark night's end, Embracing, igniting new hope's debut. Kindled thus, resonance imbues the thread; Blissful happiness lights the world in red. Sonnet 2: written winter 2017-2018 The nervous dog surveyed his vast courtyards; His guests, having received his invite cards, Would soon arrive to this red-adorn’d land. Oh, did he have such a grand party planned! The fateful night came; the guests danced and played. The peach tree’s branches in the soft breeze swayed. ‘Neath sat two hares; he shyly watched the bough, While she, in costume, closed her notes for now. Before the dog’s sight, two paired blossoms fell, Their enjoining thread following as well. Upon their heads, those flowers lightly graced; In hands, to each other, the bright string traced. Beaming happily, the dog blessed them both: Many long days of unity and growth. |
